There are Advantages to Being the Plaintiff

I’ll say it again. Do everything you can to stay married. Divorce hurts. Divorce is expensive. Sometimes, however, divorce is necessary. When divorce becomes necessary, It is better to beat your spouse to the Mobile County, Alabama Courthouse.
Firing the first volley gives you the advantage of surprise, even if they know the complaint is coming, having the sheriff show up with a summons is normally shocking in a bad way. Your attorney gets to set the first hearing and file the first discovery.
Let me reiterate, filing for divorce is not something to be undertaken as a tactic if divorce is not your goal. If it is, find an attorney you trust, discuss your case with that attorney, and follow the advice they give. Don’t put it off. There are advantages to being the Plaintiff.
